Starlight Arts provides work experience to gain hands on experience and develop your knowledge of working with learning disabilities and mental health through the use of the arts. Starlight Arts works closely with local colleges, schools, job centre and employment agencies to provide an opportunity for students at school or in sixth form, college, university and in adulthood to gain an insight to what a career working with adults with additional needs may be like. Individuals will be mentored and encouraged to ask questions, to help to understand more about Starlight Arts. An opportunity will be provided to get to know the history and experience what an actual volunteer role would be like at Starlight Arts. Our work experience will provide those joining starlight arts with an insight into a potential career for the future and help them make choices for further educational training. During the work experience we offer real work experience, feedback on how they can develop, tips on recruitment and the opportunity to meet other Starlight Arts volunteers. The work experience is covered by our charity insurance and a DBS is always available. The work experience programme we run aligns with our charity aims which are to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with the disabled and their carers or family members who are socially excluded (socially excluded means being excluded from society or parts of society due to disability. Disability means learning, physical, mental health and life limiting) on the ground of their disability to relieve the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society in particular by providing the following opportunities:

  • Engage with the arts through organisation events within the community
  • Participate in music therapy, drama, theatre, disability dance, participate in arts and crafts and contribute to exhibitions of above art forms, locally.
